Sunset Rubdown is the side project of Spencer Krug from Wolf Parade. Handsome furs is the side project of Dan Boeckner, the other lead vocalist of Wolf Parade. Spencer is to progressive as Dan is to Punk.
Handsome Furs are playing Mercury Lounge at 10PM. Hopefully this time it works out, no thanks to the US border protection services... I know, I know, homeland security, we need to be protected from these immigrants with drum machines. With this new tour date in place Dan Boekner, along with his fiancee Alexei Perry and Wolf Eyes drummer Arlen Thompson, is ready to unleash a stripped down, electronic, metronomic rhythm on the States. I swear I wasn’t paying attention for a minute and thought I was listening to Yaz. Of their own admission "The point was to be as sparse and repetitive as possible with the help of little more than vocals, guitars, and a new drum machine.”
All these side projects just mean that much more Wolf Parade to get my ears on.
